Ferrari off to WROOM event
As the new year arrived Reiko Lill officially became a Ferrari driver. The Estonian visited the factory at Maranello together with Kris Locksey and all the staff. And the day after the Scuderia all went to Madonna di Campiglio for the very popular WROOM event. The even have always served as a good way to get acquainted with the team and this year was no different as Reiko had to get closer to not just his new teammate and team priniciple, but also the engineers and Rob Smedley in particular.
The Ferrari stars were also joined by their MotoGP colleagues, Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden. And together with various promotional activities the 4 also ventured down the tricky slopes at the alp resort in Trentino. There are numerous other events planned in the forthcoming days with snow-carting being one of the highlights.
As journalists asked their questions on the new season, Domenicale was more keen to focus on last year and to summarize past races.
I think we saw a season with two faces last year. To be honest I don't think we made the best start to the year even though we got our only double at Sakhir ironically enough. We learned much though in the beginning which we adapted to after a few races. We understood that the tactics approached by Red Bull we needed to counter. We also had two very different cars and we saw that the qualifying speed we were never really close to catch even though Adrian did some marvelous qualifying laps. But we really had good race speed something we need to focus on this year too.
As the season progressed we needed to start shift our development in certain aspects and unfortunately perhaps it was not to Adrians liking. He lost some focus at the final part because of the car not really working to his favour. Hopefully we can find an ingredient this year were both our drivers feel they get the car they want.
When talking to Reiko Lill, the Estonian seemed very impressed with what he had seen so far.
This is a fantastic team. I felt welcome as soon as I got here. The factory is wonderful and it is very professional. I'm still new and I need to understand a whole lot more before I can really say I have adapted to the team. But this first part have been great.
We know Reiko is a fantastic driver with a lot of car know-how. I'm sure he will adapt very quickly and really give Kris a fight for his money. With the new changes to this season with Pirelli tyres and it seems more unreliable weather it could be a new start to us all haha.
