Holm makes the tifosi crowd go silent
The face of Kristoffer Holm when exiting his car today was that of pure joy. It for sure was a pole he thoroughly enjoyed. With a fantastic lap in the closing stages he took pole by just 6 houndreds of a second against Ferrari driver Adrian Holm. And the crowds went from cheerful to dead silent. Many seemed genuinely upset as the tifosis have never forgot the anticlimactic end to Holms career at Ferrari. To make matters even worse, Peter Bohlin, former Ferrari legend pipped Kris Locksey in the second Ferrari for fourth. The day belonged to Red Bull but it will be very exciting to follow Saturdays race, it should be a close one between the top teams.
Jorgen Ekroth looked fast all day long and finally got a qualifying together. He will start 5th after a great lap to take advantage in the Renault squad from teammate Andersson who only managed 7th. It is clear though that Renault is the clear challenger to the top two teams. In between though we found Markus Walter who also did a really good job in the Williams. After a good weekend at Spa but were he had to retire on the formation lap it is clear he is out for revenge. Jonathan Gronqvist made a great comeback after a long time injury. He will start from 8th and will head the McLaren team in the race.
Estonians Sten Teeorg and Erki Kasevali did good to finish in 9th and 10th respectively. Unable to qualify for the last round were Anders Karlsson in 11th with Kalle Palmre in 12th. Christian Waltgard ran out of fuel in Q1 and was eliminated from that session. Stay tuned for Saturday, it should be a great race with a lot of passion.
